Once you have completed your orthodontic treatment it is important to keep your teeth in their new position.

During your treatment, the teeth are held in position by your braces or aligners, but once they’re removed, stretched fibres in the gum will try to pull the teeth back to their original position (known as relapse). It can take time for the fibres to remodel, in addition, continual growth of the jaws will also encourage the teeth to move once treatment has been completed.

At our clinic in Malvern we recommend and provide retainers to help avoid relapse.

Once braces are removed your teeth will stabilize over a period of time but they will always be vulnerable to unwanted movement. To guarantee your teeth stay put, retainers are a lifelong commitment – thankfully they’re both comfortable and discreet.

At Ascent Dental Care Malvern we use a range of retention systems to ensure your teeth are straighter for longer.

Retainers can be removable or fixed in design and are recommended for long term use. Removable retainers are worn just at night & fixed retainers are low profile wires attached to the back surfaces of the front 4-6 teeth and are permanently fixed in place.

Our ‘Straighter Teeth Programme’ includes provision of retainers so you don’t need to worry about additional costs.
